I don't want to spend excessive amounts (so no high end fashion) but I just want to know where I can get quality that also looks good. e.g. coats and boots etc.

You can find clothes EVERYWHERE in Holland!!! You should also ask some Dutch people where to buy good & cheap clothes in your area. Local residents can give you the best tips and advices.

And yes, "swissnick" is right - C&A also is a good store to find clothings in the Netherlands.
PS: if you cross the border into Germany, you can even shop much cheaper in Germany when you need clothes - in the Netherlands, most prices are much higher than in Germany.

Perhaps you should look for the "C&A" shops to find something suitable.
I don't think they sell boots in the NL, but surely there is a quality shoe store next to any C&A shop...

Try going online at ebay for example. You will find top designs at affordable prices there.
