I have thought about this issue for a long time, and I can't think of any reason why decriminalization of ALL drugs is a better approach than clogging our justice system and prisons with non-violent offenders. We waste so much money enforcing what is clearly not enforceable! It only makes sense. Can you prove me wrong? And don't say because it kills, because I don't see anybody arresting Ronald McDonald, Smith and Wesson, Pesticide Companies, and automobile manufacturers. All of which kill many more people annually than drugs.

This would solve many problems:
Drug money being used for terrorism/black market
Drugs being sold to children
etc. etc. etc.

It seems to me that the problems with drug prohibition FAR outweigh the benefits!

I believe drugs should be decriminalized, somewhat. If a person over the age of 18 wants to destroy their own body, they should be able to do so, as long as there are no children in the house.
However, drug dealers should be hit hard. I mean HARD. Life sentence, no parole. Target the dealers, not the users. Users in most cases can't help it, so drug addiction should be treated like any other disease, not like a crime.
I see nothing wrong with a person growing a plant or two of marijuana for their own use, though. As long as there are no children in the house.

And by the way, I'm a Christian AND a conservative. Surprised?

Drugs should be legal and the government should not get involved. More abuse happens when the government puts their dirty hands into the equation. Just look at booze. I would make a bet with anyone that we would have fewer problems with drinking if it wasn't turned into a game for kids to get it. The more you clamp down on something, the harder people are going to try to get it.

the only drug i could think of ever being made legal in the U. S. is marijuana because of the fact its the only one whose undesirable outcomes are actually not very significant. it particularly is prohibited extra because of the fact of a stigma relatively than genuinely probability. Cocaine and methamphetamines are too severe possibility to ever be legal. i'm genuinely shocked that Saliva is prohibited some places. This too is extra in keeping with lack of understanding. I genuinely have under no circumstances heard of all and sundry smoking salvia then using a motor vehicle and killing somebody or inflicting mothers and fathers to be abusive. for my area alcohol is extra risky than salvia could ever be.

I agree with you totally. The problem is that the fundamentalists and conservatives won't go for it. They believe they have an obligation to save people from themselves which we know you cannot do.
