A rich is someone who has someone to share his life, be happy together......Money being no part of it, but riches of the heart. With your love, family, health.....you are a VERY rich person. Along with just plain happiness....Those few things can make you the happiest person in the world. With lots and lots of money and none of the other things. Not to mention......being a good person....personality....caring......You wouldn't be rich....Happiness comes with it and a lot of those money rich people are not as happy as those who work hard to get what they have and appreciate it all the more.

The rich man might merely be thrifty, what's wrong with that? And the poor man.. he IS poor if he's lacking so much in self-respect, independence and enterprise, as to accept money from others. His "needs for today are met"!!! He should be earning for himself. There's no virtue in taking a little of something which he shouldn't be accepting in the first place.
Each person has her/his own definition of 'rich', so a rich person is one who is satisfied with her/himself.
No one can make rules, and say 'true richness' is.....
One may have lot of money, one may be poor, yet both may be equally happy. Depends on what makes them happy.

Both of your statement belongs to the 'rich person'. Actually a person who spends more is a rich man and not one who collected in bank. When a person has consumption is very less and expenditure is very less, he is equally rich.
There is a proverb in Sanskrit language "If one accumulate a lot of wealth in a bank without spending or using it, I have the right on such wealth and I am equally owned that.". Rich and poor is meant based on the satisfaction and content of mind.

The definition of Rich will change from person to person but according to me those who have earned lot of money by doing lot of hardwork is rich, according to me there is one more parameter how you use the money you earned a rich will always respect the money and will use it wisely. so I think Rich is a person who keeps in mind what Warren Buffet once said " Price is what you Buy and Value is what you get." So if person is haggling for few Rs reduction is sensible and person saying My needs are met is short sighted and unabitious.

richness cannot be defined and by and large every one had dreth for some thing or other so only profound person with balence nature can be called rich for he will be contended with what he has rather than being after materialistic things more oriented towards inner peace there by feel happy contended and be called as rich.

Both of your examples are of people who are not "rich" unless they are happy with what they do. Money cannot buy happiness, just like happiness cannot make someone wealthy.
But rich people are content with what they have, and is why many high paid people do not consider themselves rich. The rich seem to be the ones who have their spiritual needs met, through Jesus Christ.

The Prophet said, "Riches does not mean, having a great amount of property, but riches is self-contentment."
"The Prophet said, 'The best alms is that which is given when one is rich, and a giving hand is better than a taking one, and you should start first to support your dependents.' A wife says, 'You should either provide me with food or divorce me.' A slave says, 'Give me food and enjoy my service." A son says, "Give me food; to whom do you leave me?" The people said, "O Abu Huraira! Did you hear that from Allah's Apostle ?" He said, "No, it is from my own self."
A man passed by Allah's Apostle and the Prophet asked a man sitting beside him, "What is your opinion about this (passer-by)?" He replied,"This (passer-by) is from the noble class of people. By Allah, if he should ask for a lady's hand in marriage, he ought to be given her in marriage, and if he intercedes for somebody, his intercession will be accepted. Allah's Apostle kept quiet, and then another man passed by and Allah's Apostle asked the same man (his companion) again, "What isyour opinion about this (second) one?" He said, "O Allah's Apostle! This person is one of the poor Muslims. If he should ask a lady's handin marriage, no-one will accept him, and if he intercedes for somebody, no one will accept his intercession, and if he talks, no-onewill listen to his talk." Then Allah's Apostle said, "This (poor man) is better than such a large number of the first type (i.e. rich men) as to fill the earth."
Bottom line not being a very religious person but yet these are things I believe in - words of our Prophet.
Peace and good luck hope this answers something for you.
