Yes you do need a spyware doctor for your PC.

Spyware Doctor is a top-rated adware blocker utility that detects, removes and protects your PC from thousands of potential spyware, adware, trojans, keyloggers, spybots and tracking threats. It protects your privacy and computing habits from prying eyes and virtual trespassers with the help of Spyware Doctor.

Spyware is the generic term for a computer application that records, without the knowledge of the computer owner, information about the user and browsing habits or other information and then transmits that information across the Internet.

Spyware and adware can also adversely affect the performance of the infected computer. Many of these applications are not well coded and regularly conflict with other applications. Multiple spyware apps can conflict both with individual programs as well as with the operating system. In short, spyware on a computer leads to frequent and debilitating crashes.

Most spyware is bundled with other software.

Hope this few notes will help you and your PC security.

You do not need any spyware detection, if you know how to avoid downloading in the first place. Spyware looks for programs that cause harm to you system by changing settings you set or simply wasting system resources. A good way to be sure you have no spyware is to backup you important data and format regularly, it is a small hassle with a big pay off.

Frankly all the answers previously given were great. My question to you would be, why do you ask such a question? I am not being cruel by any means, however, such a question indicates you are new to the internet and that's cool. You'ld be surprised at how many times my wife asks such things.
Pop-ups, Spyware, Adware, Virus all are harmful to your operating system and can/will cause it to crash. Go to your local library and try to find an easy to understand book on computer systems. An excellent source of information is at CNET.com. They regularly run, via email, courses/instructions on problems, solutions, and how-to's on numerous computer /internet topics.
The more you know the better protected you can be. Provide yourself with an umbrella of downloads and update them weekly. Use them daily if you can. Good Luck.

If you have bought and paid for virus protection then you don't need it. They are just trying to sell you a different version of the same thing. If you have one of the free security downloads, I have found that they can tell if you have a virus or not, but they can't remove it. The McAfee site advisor is a free download that works real good on advising you on dangerous sites, but you must have a virus protection like Norton or something. I use Norton and set it up to run a complete scan everyweek on a certain day and time. I use it in tandem with McAfee Site Advisor. They work well together. Good luck .

The virus is a small program that atach itself to other files from your computer and can harm your computer, by restarting it, freezing it or even by deleting your files or stealing your personal information.
Spyware is a type of programs that watches what users do with their computer and then sends that information over the Internet.
To have your computer protected you need both an anti-virus program and an anti-spyware. You can get some free from here:
