As an employee, I would prefer to work the 4/10. But as an employer, the 5/8 is much safer to justify to the state or federal Dept of labor board. They can make the 4/10 a very expensive mistake for a private, small employer in California.

i would say 4/10 not just because of the extra day off, but when you are at work, you're already there...you may as well stay the 2 more hours and get the work out of the way.

I loved 4/10's
Well until the overtime kicked in, then 6/12's for months on end nearly killed me.
I would trade either for my current schedule of around the clock.

Having did both, I can say without question, that I prefer the 4-10 hour days.
Cause that means you get at 3 day weekend, every week!!

I would cram it in the 4 / 10 scheduale and get that one extra day off. It really matters.

well i would like to work 4 10hr days but it seems at my job I tend to work 5 or 6 days a week 10hr or more a day.
