I applied for an office position which stated the job is "full-time". I put the pay I want on my application. I went for the job interview. I got a call to come in Monday morning. He asked if "I was still interested in the position". I told him I was. He told me to be there at 8am -Monday. The person on the phone did not know I had even had an interview yet..but (I guess) offered me the position. He said the position would be "part-time" hopefully turn into full-time.
My question is.. I was under the impression the job was full time. What should I ask Monday morning when I go in for the job? Some questions I had weren't answered because I was expecting a second interview with someone higher up in the company "know". I sort-of doubt the boss will be there because the interviewer said he only comes in once a week. I'd like full-time employment (as the posting stated it would be).. but they've offered me part-time with "maybe" a full time position later. What should I do?

Well, first you have to decide if you are willing to begin at part time. If not, I would call or go in Monday morning and let it be known what I was willing to do.

If the interview person isn't there, surely someone must know how to contact him. And, if there is no way you are going to work part time, then you need to just tell them that.

Don't be shy about getting the facts straight. Don't you think that if you make a mistake when actually doing a job for them, that they aren't going to point it out....and make sure YOU have the facts straight.

Sure they are! So, you certainly have the same right, too!

You were very negligent in doing your research. You are at fault in using your impression as to the position being offered to you was full-time, and not asking your relevant questions during the interview. Yes, the position is full-time. But, with the stipulation that you will be held in a part-time position until you have gone through a probationary period. You have control over your life to reject the position. Therefore, come Monday you can make your decision to accept or reject the position and continue your job search.

Be up front with people and resist the urge to be passive. Learn to be more vocal in your quest for what it is that you want. Do not think or perceive that others know what it is that you want or desire.

Do you need money? Then go and show up.

Make sure you find out what you pay is going to be and your hours.

You can always give it a try and keep looking, or give it a try and see how it works out.

Good luck
