I just wanted to say that I don't think you should rule out flying Westwards - and I'm thinking the Caribbean, here - so many romantic places - Barbados, Antigua and St. Lucia are my favourites of the places I have visited, but the smaller islands like the Grenadines or the Turks & Caicos are supposed to be lovely. There's also Bermuda, which is not in the Caribbean but is the closest to us!
If you think about it, it always takes a day to travel somewhere, wherever it may be. It may only take four and a half hours on a plane to the Canaries, but you have to travel to the airport, and make sure you're there two hours before the flight is scheduled to depart; then you have more travelling after you've queued up at immigration, and collected your luggage! That's your whole day gone.
Flying to Saint Lucia, say, may take eight hours, but you 'gain' four hours because of the time zone, so you still only spend the one day getting there. Obviously, it's the opposite coming home, but you usually have an overnight flight and arrive back in the morning... but who is too worried about coming back from your honeymoon?!
Anyway, I reckon it's hard to beat a cruise as a honeymoon 'destination'. Whether you go to the Med (but the weather won't be great in October) or the Caribbean (good all year round), you will have superb food, excellent service, great entertainment every night, and loads of different places to see. If you can't be bothered to take an excursion, then just sit in the sun or retire to your cabin... after all, it is your honeymoon! ;+)

Menorca is brilliant it's so laid back it's a wonder it doesn't fall over ! It's only a small island 30 miles by 10 and its full of culture and history ,the people are extremely friendly , good restaurants great bars , where we stay if you get more than 6 cars in a row it's a traffic jam so if you want to chill out i don't think you will find anything much better.
The flight times from the UK is around 2.30 Min's depending on where you fly from hope this helps , enjoy wherever you go .

I am assuming you are coming from England? Me and my husband took our first trip together to Dubai. I think it is about 6.5 hours flight. It is a really unique place with a different sort of culture that you can see more of if you take a day trip to Sharjah or Al Ain. What I enjoy about Dubai is that there is a lot to do: Water sports, shopping, skiing, wild wadi, etc. And there are also a lot of great restaurants, especially romantic ones like the dhow dinner cruises.
Or why not try Budapest. I think is fairly distinct culturally for Europe and it is cheep. There are also lots of spas there and romantic little spots aroung the city.

Well last year i flew to madrid wit my gf at the time and we rented a car after two nights. Headed up the north of spain and drove round the pyrennese mountains then heade west along the north coast. We booked no accomadation save madrid and ended up staying in little hotels in little villages by the sea. Really romantic actually. Highly recommended.
If you started in barcelona or finished up there you would be pretty close to andorra which would be great for a day or two skiing.
Sun, snow, scenery and actually wasnt that expensive.
Not boring like a sun holiday and you can change your mind and go wherever you like.
Best of luck by the way. I give it 4 months, ha ha

Santorini in Greece. It is amazing.
You could also try Lindos in Rhodes. Its a pretty little town with roof top restaurants over looked by the acropolis. You can take buses to rhodes town if you don't fancy driving out there.
Egypt is another amazing place. We have stayed in Hurghada on the Red Sea. Sharm El Sheik is suppose to be very good too. Or you could try a Nile cruise ?? If you stay in Luxor stay in the Sonesta St George Hotel 5* It is a lovely hotel.

I hired a cute little cottage in Cornwall for my honeymoon. It was sweet and not far from there were beaches, little villages with quaint pubs and shops, the worlds largest indoor market, plenty of places to do outdoor activities. Or if you just want to cuddle up in front of a real log fire you can do so.
If it's abroad you want why not head to Italy? Florence, Venice, Rome...all incredibley romantic.
Paris is an obvious one and flights are cheap these days.

Well since you are in Western Europe, I can suggest the Canary Islands, off of Africa, which is part of Spain. Also, I would suggest Dubrovnik in Croatia. It is an up and coming destination for Western Europeans.
