With the shortage of hospital beds they have started doing overflow patients into the hallways of the floors until a room becomes open, sometimes for over 24 hours. How is this working out for anybody?

We frequently experience overflow in the emergency department, and have allocated "hallway" beds, but the patients are given a private bay as soon as one becomes available. If there are no beds upstairs, they are kept in the ED until one becomes available. We have not had to place individuals in the hallways upstairs.

It works out well for the hospital since they don't lose money by sending them away to other hospitals.
