Hi, sending mail to Singapore will be the same as you sending mail in your own country. Just that you need to affix the airmail sticker and pay the airmail rates.
If you are sending it by registered mail, then you need to fill a form to indicate that only the recipient can sign for the mail. There will be additional charge on top of the airmail rate.
If you are sending as a parcel, you need to declare the content of the package so that the post office will know that there is no dangerous content in flight.
As in all mail, the weight of your mail/parcel will detemine the postage cost. If it is fragile, you may want to use a bubble wrap and a box so that it does not get damaged. If you are not sure or have questions, just ask the Post Office staff for assistance.

Hi, you can bring your item to any Singapore Post Office and tell them that you're going to send the item to overseas. You can purchase from the post office a bubble wrap envelope or alternatively, bring your own envelope or your own box, make your item is wrapped securely before you put inside and seal it up.
Then, either you may use (1) normal posting method that will take about a few days time, or use their (2) airmail service which is slightly more expensive only but it is a faster way to deliver.
Explanation for:
(1) If you're using normal posting service, you needn't do any customs declare value for your item. Then, buy an overseas stamp from them, the postage will depend on which country you'll be sending to. You can now post your package into the mailbox indicated as "Overseas".
(2) If you're using their airmail service, they'll give you a small green slip to declare the value of your item. You don't have to write a big amount for the customs declare value. Because normally the higher declare value of the items, the recipient has to pay more for any duties & taxes incurred at the customs.

you only need customs forms if you're selling it, not if it's a gift,
basically, take it to a post office and ask them how much it will be to send (depends on weight and maybe size), they are the experts here

i think it's a good idea to use a bubble padded envelope - as those are handled with more care than normal envelopes which they run through machines.
