Do you really mean a novel, ie a fiction book, a story made up by the author; or do you mean a self-help book, which is by definition non-fiction and not a novel?

Or do you mean any life-changing written material? Try the Writings of the Old Testament (the Bible): Ecclesiastes or, if you're having a rough time, Job.

This one is a little less than 100 pages - written in the form of a fairy tale. It's called The Knight in Rusty Armor. It is found in the self help section of bookstores. It truly is life changing.

There's been a few editions of it but 'How to win friends and influence people' by Dale Carnegie is a real eye opener. You'll be able to get it from Amazon for about £7 - £8.
