sorry to say this, but many people still don't know about the Pentium D's, no offense anybody but,

Pentium D is simply 2 pentium 4 chips with 800Mhz FSB and larger 4mb L2 cache, oh my gosh, come on guys, those of you who talk P4 is better is still in the stone age i guess. Pentium D uses the same chip architecture as Pentium 4's. Thats the reason why , AMD's were still better than Pentium D, becoz, it was sure better than P4 since it came in competition for the Intels successor 4. And just to fight back for the crown, Intel made the smart move in makin the newest powerful core, and brand new architecture for "Core 2 Duo" lineups and yes they're the best out there for gaming / video editing / viiv / multimedia powerhouse or anything that you want to do. Intel is the king right now and sure their latest release deserves the fame.

your answer wud be - Pentium 4 is same as Pentium D, but, "Pent D" is better since its improved in FSB and L2 cache.

Note - Pentium D's come in two generations, 8th and 9th. Sure the 9's are better and expensive, n since ur prices are said in Rs, and i dont know what country Rs is that ? is it India, ?? if so, u cud look for a Pentium D, to multi-task and run a smooth computer.

Pentium D, it supports Dual processor cores on a single CPU die, which means that is fast and good for multi-tasking. A Dual core processor is better at running multiple applications. Like applications that take 100% of your cpu and your system becomes unresponsive on a single core system, Dual core remains responsive because of the other core.

Go in for a P4 with HT technology. Pentium D is utter crap...if you need a dual core ,you have to go in for a AthlonX2 64 or Core 2 Duo depending on how much you can spend, Core 2 architecture is awesome ...it is amazing.
