I've employeed people in one region of India with poor results. They just didn't have what we in the West call "work ethic." Work ethic means that they are dedicated to their work for the sake of the work, not just to collect the money at the end of the month.
When people have work ethic, they are so easy to manage, but when they don't, they need to be micro-managed for results, and are generally a pain in the behind to employee.
So, does anyone WITH experience- and not just a kid who never had exposure to the different peoples in multiple work environments- have any advice about good people to employee in India for basic office operations.
Where are they? How to identify them? How to keep them? Is their a code I need to crack around this?

Work Ethics .... Huh... what are you talking about?

Its not even there in any english dictionary in India.

Had it been there,
you would seeking employment in India right now....
instead of frustatingly asking a open q like this.

NB:
A good worker... will always be a Good Worker.. wherever he is born.....
Work Ethics has nothing to do with a country or a continent or a race.

Work Ethics... is more to do with the moral values within an Indivdual than anything else.

Can any one disagree with this?

i'm very sorry to the pathetic incident. The reason is modern circumstances. As you pronounced "happy scene at freed from fee" is the fashionable vogue. you spot those suggestive scenes in cinemas, magazine and drama with some price and contact it modern vogue. We ignored ethical preparation for the previous ten years.maximum of our citizen do no longer understand approximately morality.Corrupt and terrorist are taken care of as leaders. those issues has to get replaced. we are able to do no longer something different than pray for a extra effective India!!!

Work ethics can not be attributed to any Country, religion or caste. It depends on an individual and the atmosphere, he fits into. A psychologist or a good HR manager can explain you better.
