There are 2 ways that I know of to close ports on Windows.

1) A firewall will close them down.

2) Under TCP/IP > Advanced > Options > TCP/IP Filtering > Properties. Here this allows you to close down ports also. This happens within the host OS on windows, which can be used to enhance the firewall. ( Win2000 Pro has this, not sure about XP or Vista).
