The only thing I remember is the music video. The music video showed a bunch of people in a dance-a-thon and the main singer (a black gal) would sing throughout this event.
I believe this is a late 90's song. Throughout the music video, people start dropping like flies during this dance-a-thon. At the end of the music video, the singer basically walks over to the white guy with the dance trophy.

Well.....genre would probably be dance/pop music. This song wasn't really techno.

weird....there's a video like that for a newer song called "dark blue" by jack's mannequin, but it's probably not what you're talking about.
