For the most part I love my job.
I can honestly say, that I have been suffering from a little bit of burn out lately though.
Any groomer that you talk to will tell you that the people who own the dogs are the ones that are hard to deal with and not the dogs themselves.
If you are considering becoming a groomer, my advice would be to take a course in public relations, or a seminar on dealing with the clients. Because pet owners are tough people to please.(and I dont mean with just the haircut itself)

But then, you do have your regular clients that you just love and then you begin to remember why you got into grooming. They of course are not all bad.
But yet there are some people out there that will make you wonder why on earth you ever considered becoming one.

It is a wonderful feeling to have your regular clients dogs go crazy to get in the door to see you, especially when they were horrified the first time they came! Dogs are smart, they know when their groomer cares for them and they know she is going to make them feel better!

Set your prices and dont ever let people jew you down on them or make you feel guilty about what you charge.
Most people think you dont charge enough,(the ones that know whats involved in grooming a dog) but then some think your crazy. (those are the ones) LET them go somewhere cheaper-you'll thank yourself in the long run and save your sanity in the process.
You have to remember to give yourself a raise like everyone else in the world gets too.
Raise your prices accordingly.
I love my job, but it is by all means much harder than alot of people realize.

Good luck
