my apple ipod mini is showing a folder with a exclimation point, i was trying to add more songs to it, and now this is showing, it wont even bring up the menu anymore, anyone help me pls, i had over 100 songs and now there gone i dont know where they went or what happened. I was using real player to bring the songs to my ipod

That sucks. It happened to my ipod video and I did research everywhere on the net. There are some methods that have worked. You have to reset the Ipod by pushing a series of buttons and if that doesn't fix it then it is broken and needs to be replaced. My video had that and after following the reseting steps in the www.apple.com website without luck, it still had warranty and I got it replaced. It couldn't even be fixed. Anyway, good luck and the best place to find troubleshooting steps is at apple.com.

Like between the individuals above stated, get the iPod firmware updater, boot into the mode that enables you to connect with laptop (sorry, I forgot the genuine call of the mode) and 'replace' the firmware. it is going to repair it. good success!
