my son is having difficulty with ratios some help would be nice thanx

1/2 = 36L / 72L
or
1/2 = 18L / 36L

If you are portioning out 36L so that the ratio of the portions is 1:2 then 1 + 2 = 3
36L / 3 = 12L
1/2 = 12L / 24L
