I am really unorganised and have trouble keeping track of and meeting homework deadlines. I've tried keeping a diary but I always end up slacking off and not writing in it at all, leaving it useless. I have a white-board up on my bedroom wall to write stuff on it, but it doesn't really seem to help much.

At first I thought it was a Mum asking this question, then I read it and realised that it was the person with the problem asking the q. Good on you to recognize that you have an issue.. first problem solved.
Secondly set yourself a daily target and reward yourself for reaching that target (like a chocolate bar ,a new lipstick or a walk through the perfume section in your local department store getting samples))
Write everything down that you have to do each day.. accept the fact that you are going to miss a few weekends in order to catch up.
Make a daily homework schedule and allow time inbetween topics for breaks, TV and walks etc.
Tell someone what you are aiming to do and ask them to keep an eye on what you are doing as well so that you dont just have to rely on yourself. Praise works wonders.
Remember that you are not the only one with this problem.. I think its another one of those teenage issues and it will pass with time.
Go for it and good luck.

There's the DINK system (Do It Now, Kid!). It works great for adults, too. The point is not to schedule stuff, but if you can do it and get it done now, do so! Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today, and all that.

You might try a folder system, where you keep your homework assignments in separate folders. Write the due date in big black letters with white board marker (or use a post-it note). Have a homework time at the same time each day, and work on something every day. Even if it's not due soon. As soon as you get it done, put it in an "out" tray.

Then, when you get ready for school the night before (do it the night before -- morning is too rushed!) check the out tray to see if there's anything you need to take. (If a project is too big for a folder, keep it in a safe place, but leave a note about where you put the project in the folder.) Put it in your book bag along with any tools you need for the next day.

As for your diary with weekly schedules and things -- keep it with you in class, and write the stuff in AS THE TEACHER IS GIVING THE ASSIGNMENT. That way you won't have to write it down twice.

Good luck!

No.

It is almost impossible to get organized if you don't have the inclination to become so. You say so yourself.

You may want to give yourself a 'penalty-system.'
fi: Every time you miss an appointment you have to donate 5$ into a charity box ...you decide what that charity is (May be even you) But, give somebody else control of that box so you have to 'confess' you messed up again. It is, was, and always will be your own responsibility.
