Some systems analysts argue." Give user what they want alot of reports and reams of data, then that is what you should provide. otherwise, they will fell that you are trying to tell them how to do their jobs." Ohther say, "systems analysts should let users know what information can be obtained from the system. If you listen to user, yu will never get anywhere, because they reallyy don;t know what and don't understand information system. " what do yu think of these arguments?

Check out "Getting Real" and "Desiging the obvious" - both speak on just how much to give to customers with fun chapters like:

Hire the right customers
It just doesn't matter
Start with no
building only whats necessary
getting users up to speed quickly
listen to your customers, then ignore them

Well, I think it is better to let the customer know what they can expect. It is up to the system analyst to determine what can and cannot be done. There is nothing wrong with the customer wanting certain reports done a certain way. However, the analyst will need to know if it is feasible or not.
