"Some chameleon species are able to change their skin color, which has made them one of the most famous lizard familiesa large part. Changing color is also an expression of the physical and physiological condition of the lizard.[1] The color also plays an important part in communication.

Chameleons have specialized cells, collectively called chromatophores, that lie in layers under their transparent outer skin. The cells in the upper layer, called xanthophores and erythrophores, contain yellow and red pigments respectively. Below these is another layer of cells called iridophores or guanophores, and they contain the colorless crystalline substance guanine. These reflect, among others, the blue part of incident light. If the upper layer of chromatophores appears mainly yellow, the reflected light becomes green (blue plus yellow). A layer of dark melanin containing melanophores is situated even deeper under the reflective iridophores. The melanophores influence the 'lightness' of the reflected light. All these different pigment cells can rapidly relocate their pigments, thereby influencing the color of the chameleon."

chameleons normally have a base colour of green, brown or blue for some species. they can change colour to let other chameleons know their mood, for mating or dominance etc. thye normally darken at this point but many colours have been seen such as black, red and pink. it all depends on their mood and what they are trying to convey

A male chameleon might grow to be extra bright in colouration and a girl might grow to be extra boring in colouration as they the two may be responding to their contemplated image - the male becomming aggressive and exhibiting and the female starting to be shy and submissive. Chameleons are nicely hidden by using their base shade, eco-friendly, mixing with their eco-friendly environment. Their genuinely shade is a contemplated image of temper, no longer environment.
