i used to live in the uk and i moved to australia last month , i am living with my sister and brother here whom the last time i saw them i was 13 ( and i am 18 now) .i am going to this college and i am starting to feel out of place and homesick .The thing is that i m black and at college there are no black people they are only asian people mosty chinese.

i cant seem to fit in ,i try and talk to people and make friend but they seem to just want to stick to themselves as in hang around with there own race and they always speak their native language and i dont understand . in my classes they are 5 white australians and i try to be friendly with them and talk to them but its just the same .so its been a month now since i ve been in australia and haven had any friends and i am starting to feel home sick coz i dont have anyone to talk to. well i dont really get along with my sister (she is 25 by the way) because i havent grown up with her and the same with my brother . wat should i do

In high scholl we had a black chick, she was awsome,(indan south african) she brought the american way of being black into her persona and became quite cool and got us all into it, Hang in there, join some clubs or find a youth centre, or join a sports team, you will make freinds eventually, ill be your freind if you like

I think it might take a bit more than a month to get settled into your new life. You're barely settled, you're new at a school and it takes more than a month to make friends.

Sure, I completely understand being of a different race, and feeling that you're not able to fit in easily. Just give it time, interact with people, be friendly, be involved. BE yourself and you will see that in time you will make new friends, and your relationship with your siblings will grow.

Work on your communication skills, and new hobbies in the meantime. Joining new hobbies, sports, will help you make friends.

Best of luck
