I was about to take the depot shot this last summer but the doctor wanted me to take the pills for three months to see if ill be able to handle the shot. while i was on the pills i missed my period and i thought i was pregnant, so i stopped taking them. That was in August. I havent had my period since. I cant really tell if im getting pregnant or not. I have been taking home pregnancy tests just to be safe? Can anyone tell me some info about the shot? Does it prevent me from having a baby even if I stop taking it? Does it make me stop having my period?

i have been to my doctor about this, and she said that with me starting college this year and having a serious relationship, its normal. i just dont know.

I had a friend that had the depot shot once and she never got a period for 8 months and when she got her period she got pregnant that month. I think you should get some blood tests done to make sure you are not lacking anything and just to make sure that everything is ok.

I took the shot for a number of years. It can really throw your hormones off track. I would go and have blood work done to be sure your not expecting. As for not having your period it could be from the shot. It is some really strong stuff I went for ever w/o a period I finally went it to the Dr and they put me on some really weak birth con troll pills, it took 3 cycles before I saw a period. Just go in to see your Dr.

You sound really confused. You can miss your period because you're on the pill - it doesn't mean you're pregnant...

The depo shot lasts for 3 months and then you need to get another. It prevents pregnancy in 97-99% of cases, but of course doesn't protect you against diseases - you'll get better protection if you use a condom IN ADDITION TO getting the depo shot.

Good luck!

All I have to say is...
STAY AWAY FROM "THE SHOT"!!!!
It is an evil thing that will screw you in the end.
