I am supposed to write about my greatest achievement, and I don't know which of these two to write about.
It's either: when I got straight A's all through the fourth grade, or when I won the spelling bee in fifth grade. Please help!

Which did you enjoy most? Or, if you can't remember how you felt at the time, which do you feel most pleased about when you think back about it? If there is any difference in your feelings, write about what you felt/feel best about. It will show in the enthusiasm of your essay (the "sparkle" of your essay, which is always something that a reader appreciates). If there is no difference, then toss a coin.

Both sound excellent. To pick the one you prefer, put down a few thoughts about each one on a piece of paper. Which ever one felt the easiest to make the list for, go for that one. You will want to talk about what you did to accomplish your achievement. How did that feel when you were doing it? How did that affect your confidence afterwards? What did your friends and family say to you while you were doing this, and afterwards. Either one will make a great essay to read.

This is simple! Pick the topic which you can write and express the most. If I were you, I'd pick the one when you got straight A's. You can write about how hard you strive to get those results. And maybe what that made you study hard e.g. your parents promised to treat you if you get excellent results! Good luck!
