Check your email. They might have sent you a reason for the -12 points.
Try going to your Q&A page and click on the tab "Activity Details".. They might have something there..

you should've gotten an email telling you the alert. I hate getting those and I only get them for posting a question that is really just a poem and they say, " NOT A QUESTION!!", or for getting mad at someone and posting something in german ;)

it should say in an email you get if they don't like your question. they did that to me when I got "intoxicated" and asked a question "promoting the use of illegal drugs" :P
