I have an Angel care monitor and my baby is 7 months old and it works great!!You just have to be sure the sensitivity level is not set too high.I have never had the alarm go off when my baby is in the crib, only if I take him out and forget to turn it off,I think they are the best thing and well worth the money!!Good luck.

I would highly recommend the Angel Care Monitor. Alot of these style of monitors got criticised for going off for no reason. Originally some of them only had one pad that sits under the mattress and if the child stops breathing it alarms. Unfortunately only having the one pad - the child moved off this and it alarmed. Now days they come with two pads and it doesn't matter where they move in the cot they are covered. this comes from a mum of a baby that moves all night every night. I hope you are as happy as I am with mine!!!

They may help give you piece of mind but they won't help save your baby from SIDS.
"I know there is now way shape or form that this monitor can save your baby's life but in my opinion the faster you get to them if they have quit breathing the better chance you have to take action and revive them"
That statement is false, false, false when it comes to SIDS. If a baby stops breathing due to SIDS that baby cannot be revived so a monitor would be useless. When a baby stops breathing due to SIDS that baby is already gone, their body starts to shut down instantly and CPR will do no good no matter how soon you start it. I know, I lost my five month old to SIDS and I've done my research.
Those monitors are okay for a baby with apnea but just realize that SIDS is something that cannot be prevented or detected no matter what kind of monitors or devices you buy.

YES! YES! YES! I loved mine! My daughter did come home from the hospital on an apnea monitor and when she came off of it I was very uncomfortable so I purchased an angel monitor. It was wonderful..... the only problem I had was she when she would "scoot" herself to one end of the crib or the other it would go off but I was thankful...better safe than sorry! I know there is now way shape or form that this monitor can save your baby's life but in my opinion the faster you get to them if they have quit breathing the better chance you have to take action and revive them!

I would definatley use the Angel Care Baby monitor, I used it for both my babies, and didn't have a single problem, when they get bigger and start to stand up, you can disconnect the senosr pad and use it just like a regular baby monitor. It is way better to be over safe than to be awake all night with worry, you will have a lack of sleep without the need to worry whether your baby is sleeping safely or not.
Good Luck!

I've heard of the ones that have a pad for movement, but, I've heard that even if your baby moves slightly, it can wake them, and you up, since the alarm sounds not only on your end of the monitor, but in baby's room as well.

Apnea monitor is different from a baby monitor.Apnea monitor is used to detect apneas in newborn or if they quit breathing for more 15 seconds or more and this will alarm to prompt you.Baby monitor is used to hear or monitor the baby in his room if he cries.

I used one for my baby. It helped ease my paranoia. I was terrified of SIDS, choking on spit-up, and maybe someone kidnapping her. (I think I watch the news too much) If the pad that goes under the mattress doesn't sense movement for 20 seconds and alarm goes off. It is so sentitive it even senses breathing movements. I wouldn't have slept at all if it weren't for that monitor. I was checking on her every 5-10 minutes before we got it.

Thank God for tecnology!!!! If you can afford this you should get it.This could save your babys life plus it will give you pease of mind and you will sleep much better! you can get one for around $100@babies-R-us. I whouldn't suggest getting a used one because you cant know for sure if it will work correctly. There is a pad that you lay under your baby( he/she needs to stay on it) the pad detects breathing movements if there is no movement for so many seconds(very few)it sounds the alarm.
