I just found out by getting served with eviction and court papers, that she had used my name to rent the home. I instantly called the landlord to let him know that it was not me. I feel bad because she has 3 young children and he said that he was going to press fraud charges on her. How much trouble is she going to be in? Anyone? I need to know if I did the right thing or not.

well she is in a bit of a pickle...identity theft I believe is a felony...if this is her first offense maybe it will not be so bad......but you did the right thing....and what you need to keep in mind..is you didn't do anything..you didn't cause this to happen to her..she did it all by herself by stealing from you and lying to another......so none of this is your fault...you have nothing to feel guilty over..no matter how this mess turns out...your sister caused this herself........

she really did put you in an awful position.. not that you could do anything..although ,the landlord might drop the charges if you paid off what is owed..but I don't believe this action would do your sister any favors in the long run....she did it once...how do you know she will not do it again...did you believe she would have done it this time?..if not, than you have your answer.......sometimes ,it is best to let matters run its coarse....it's seem that people who will abuse something ...will do it over and over if they don't face some kind of harsh consequences......I know my aunt and uncle has bailed their son out of messes one time after another over the years..and this has done nothing..but cause a lot of grief and heartache over and over......some people just can not learn or will not learn.....their reasoning is all messed up..and without something (consequences )to get their feet on the ground and their head screwed on right..they never will get better or do right..........

just try not to stress yourself out over this...you can't help what your sister did...and she needs this lessen now..so
maybe she will not pull another stunt like this in the future.........

be prepared for her to blame this mess on you..that is how some people react ..by placing the blame on others...just tell her you didn't cause it ..that it was her actions that caused this mess....try to be strong..........

take care.......

It's a tough situation, but you can't protect her from the consequences of her actions on this one. She has stolen your identity, possibly in more ways than this, and has caused what could be serious trouble for you. Even if she is your sister, you still have to protect yourself, so yes, you did the right thing, and did what you had to do.

She's likely to be in serious trouble on this. If she hasn't done anything even remotely like this in the past, she's more likely to get probation than jail, and even if jail, not 10 years like the one person said - but she could end up in jail for awhile over this, and if she's done this kind of thing before, very likely will.

Yes, of course you did the right thing. As others have mentioned, make sure and call the credit reporting agencies to see if there are other things that she has used your information for as well. Also, as hard as it may be for you to do, you should file a police report for identity theft. That way, in case things pop up in your credit file, you will have documentation of the reported identity theft to back up your claim.

your in an rather tight spot. besides the certainty which you're arranged to get regulation enforcement on your element to get rid of the id from her possession, they'll nevertheless little question cost you with merchandising an expired or fake id, helping a minor with a purchase order she don't have made. you additionally can get some rates for assissting prostitution, if that's shown you knew what you have been doing with it. in case you desire to stay away from all of that, take it from her bodily. in case you realize the place she retains it, take it from her while she's asleep or something, decrease it up, and than lock up your license on your automobile or someplace she can't attain.

your sister did something wrong and illegal..she should face the consequences. you shouldnt get punished for what she has done. she could have just asked you to help cosign for the place instead of forging ur signature or whatever she did. she must have knew it was going to catch up with her eventually..she wasnt paying the rent she must have knew they were going to come after u, but she didnt say anything to you at all.
