I was homeschooled so I've never been to a prom (no was never asked to one either). I have been to weddings, however, and was wondering if proms generally have a "king and queen dance" ala the "bride and groom dance" at weddings. Going by certain episodes of "Full House" and "The Simpsons" it would appear so, but those are just TV shows.

It varies by school. My school didn't even have Prom King and Queen! None of our school dances that HAD royalty had special dances either.

During our prom night (way back 1994, duh!) we have a special King and Queen dance. Funny as it may sound but our King and Queen of the night danced thru the tune of "King and Queen of Hearts". They are the only two people who were dancing at the dance floor.

They were so cute!

At my high school they had about a 1min to 2min dance by themselves, and then everyone else started dancing again. However, it really depends on the school, every school is different and will do things their own way.
