Its gonna be a chore.
You can get the gear in the trunk...the sticks will most likely...well..for sure have to go up front with you.

If you are an ice hockey player, I doubt anyone will make fun of you driving a miata for fear of losing their teeth. I actually worked on a dude's miata that played hockey and he had to put all of his gear in the front seat with sticks. I wouldn't advise it being such a small car but I am guessing that you go to practice maybe twice a week? It shouldn't be that bad of a trip. What you can do is just go to a used car place and ask if you can fit your gear into the car to decide if you want to buy it or not. Don't worry about how the salesman may feel about it, if he wants to sell you a car, he will let you try. If it is difficult to position, then at least you'll know before you buy.
Btw, the early miata is japanese, not a Ford and is very reliable.

They wont fit. Maybe if you try to push them all in with force, but the hockey sticks wont fit into the trunk UNLESS you place them in the passenger seat.
I agree with the first poster, a miata is a chicks car, which is what the majority of the people know of it as, and you'll most likely made fun off. However they aren't such bad cars.
If you really want one, just save it for another time and get yourself a much better vehicle that will help you take all of your hockey gear but at the same time provide more safety, much more comfort, and abit more power under the hood. I'd recommend a Buick Regal LS or GS. The LS is good on mileage and the GS came with the good ol supercharger, plus the GS looks badass in Black and grey with the black grill and chrome rims ( Yeah yeah yeah its a grandpas car blah blah blah thats no excuse.) And did I mention the trunk is big enough to fit your hockey gear and a few bodies? :P
THEN, only THEN, can you later on in life can you buy yourself a miata and use it as your saturday car or a track car.

My sister has a boyfriend who plays alot of hokey they both have sports coupes... coupes usually have pretty big trunks i say i could fit in the trunk if i was bound and gagged.. but in a miata? noway. if you have half the stuff he has then that is just an impossability.. and if your a guy chances are your fellow players will pick on you for driving such a car.. also you have to think of where the hockey sticks would go.. yes you could put them on the roof but would you want to? just get a bigger car. miata's arent the most dependable- reliable cars anyway.. especially since mazda is ford. (not knocking ford) your much better off with a bigger car anyway for safety reasons. also im sure the dealer wouldnt mind if you tried to fit it in the trunk to see (as long as your hockey stuff doesnt stink) if they put up a big fuss chances are you dont want to buy the car from them (presuming you are buying from a dealer)
