Based on the responses I got RE: T Hardaway, I haven't determined if people are upset because of what he said, or because he said it publicly? To me, it doesn't matter if he is in the spotlight or just the school janitor, can u knock a person for the way he/she really feels?

You can "knock" a person by using your right to free speech to respond to them. Can I "knock" the KKK or neo-Nazis by speaking against their beliefs?
Since Hardaway brought up his ideas in a public forum, other people have the right to respond in public forums. Even if he said it at a family dinner, someone else at the table has the right to "knock" his views.
His right to free speech WAS NOT violated. The NBA is a PRIVATE organization who has the right to hire and fire whoever they want. Their policies do not violate labor laws. They were just exercising their rights by firing him.
This is NOT a free speech issue.
