I think you are asking the mass if you need 78 kg & want a 20% excess. 20%=20/100=1.20
1.20*78=93.6 kg

Use the ccalculator and multiply 78 times 1.2 (the same as asking to calculate 20% more than the number that you inputted).

The answer is 93.6 (kgs.)

Then subtract 78 from 93.6, which gives 15.6, which is the amount that you added to 78.

(Another simple way is to do the reverse — this is what I do if I do the problem in my head, which some of us used to learn in the days before calculators. Divide 78 by 10, which is the same as finding 10% of 78; result is 7.8 (you just have to move the imaginary decimal point one place to the left from 78.0 to get 7.8). But since you are looking for 20%, you have to multiply the answer you get for 10% by 2: 7.8 x 2 is the same as 7.8 + 7.8 = 15.6, which is 20% of 78.)

100%<--->78 kg
20%<----->20/100 x 78 kg
= 1 / 5 x 78 kg = 15 (3/5)kg = 15.6 kg
New weight = 93.6 kg
