It's definitely very hard, but possible. I married a man who had been alone for 8 years. He was very set in his ways.

We've been married for 4 years and lived together for a total of 6 and he still drives me crazy.

He was so used to doing things his way and to me most of his ways are very annoying. I keep telling him that he is married now and has to compromise, that just because he wants it his way, that doesn't mean it isn't so.

At one point he tried to say that he made the money and he'd make the decisions. At this point in time, I have to remind him that I bring home more money than he does, so that excuse doesn't fly anymore.

I also have a friend that has a power struggle with all the men in her life, because she has been alone for so long. I keep telling her, let the man support you if he wants to, but she won't listen.

It is possible, but very hard to do. People who have lived alone for many years are very self sufficient and very set in their ways. Most aren't willing to compromise.

But, if they truly love someone, they should be willing to compromise and can make things work.

I've lived alone for two years (my guy is deployed) but whenever he decides to show up, I'll give up that hard earned independence and submit to him being the man of the house again. You learn to adapt when you love someone.

I hope so, I've been living alone (with my kids though) for the past 12 years. Have had no friends in all that time either.

Love is all about give and take the person that you fall in love with is going to have habits and routines that you might not like either but if you really love that person you learn to live with it. Ahh the things we do for love!!

When you meet the right person and fall in love making changes in your life will be more of a pleasure than a chore. I am not saying there won't be bumps, but the rough spots are worth it.

Good question. I wonder that myself quite often. All I can say is that I certainly hope so. I definitely need my alone time, so he would have to be able to deal with that.

I often wondered that myself... I can't even imagine sharing my home with a pet... I hope so, because I don't want to grow old alone...

I think you would be surprised. When we are in love; things happen; we change. We'll do anything when we're in love. It's like we become obsessed.
