You should try not to exercise until at least 2 hours after eating. When you eat, the blood in your body collects around the digestive system. It does this to feed the muscles that aid digestion, and to absorb nutrients. This leaves less to peripheral muscles, like those of the arms and legs. The decrease in peripheral circulation causes increased fatigue, and cramping. Both are caused by not having enough oxygen to feed, and carry lactic acid (what causes that 'burn' feeling) away from muscles.

Should you eat before or after you jog?
How long will you be jogging for? If over 30 minutes, then have an energy bar before.

There are two schools of thought on this. One says that if you eat before you jog, you are only burning off the calories in the food you ate and not the calories in your fat store and that you could get a stitch in your side from the food.
Another says, that you need complex carbohydrates to get energy when you exercise.
A good rule of thumb is to wait at least 60 - 90 minutes after you've eaten to start exercising.

Alot of people get told they should eat before they go for a jog..but if you eat before a jog than you are just burning off what you ate..But if you eat after your jog you have actually burnt of "fat" not the food you have just eaten and after your jog your metabolism is usually faster....

after. but a small meal.
after you work out, you tend to eat less food
also, if you eat before you walk or jog, your body does not take in the nutrients it needs from the food.

Never exercise on a full stomach or a completely empty one. Eat a light snack 1/2 hour before. Like dry cereal.

You should eat something small but healthy and full of protein like apples or bannanas with peanut butter before. It will help keep your energy up. If you eat too much your stomach will cramp up and if you eat something full of sugar like a candy bar you will have a short burst of energy but feel very tired afterwards. Drinking water is important to keep you hydrated. If you are hungry afterwards you could eat something more.

Drink a Protein Shake.. They work wonders and you wont get a side ache/tummy ache. I always suggest eating after working out (You do work up an appetite!) and the protein shake provides your body with all the essential vitamins and nutrition it needs!
