Bathtub rust....HELP!?

Question

I cannot seem to get the rust stains out of porcelin bathtub. I have tried comet with bleach, clorox bleach, CLR, Magic Eraser and soft scrub. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm sick of looking at the funk everytime I take a shower and too grossed out to take a bath.

Short of replacing your tub, the only other thing I could suggest is going down and getting some white appliance paint and repainting your tub.

edit - Your question provoked me to do some online research. Here is what I came up with:

To refinish your tub go to Home Depot or Lowe's they sell kits to re-glaze tubs and sinks for about $50. best applied with mohair mini roller 4in.


You may have to strip the old paint off first. I'm not sure about that, but home depot would know what kind of paint stripper to use and if you have to or not.

Places like Ace Hardware or Home Depot do sell rust removers that are a lot stronger than CLR. I found Magic Eraser makes claims that are not true. It falls apart easy,huh! There are repair kits that can seal the damaged area which are usually white in color. It depends upon the extent of the damage. If the damage is extensive, I would have the tub professionally re-glazed which is far cheaper than a new tub. Have a happy year.

If all the other great answers you got don't work, there are professionals who can use special materials to reglaze the tub, and it will look great.

hahahahaha i became questioning to tug the plug, yet wondered bout da bucket... perhaps I could %. my stufff too. i could use a visit, the youngsters stress me insane... besides, Im blonde, so I were given a reliable excuse for insanity, eh?? too reliable skipp!
