I think he's going to be a stiff. The Yankees signing him was a knee-jerk reaction to the Red Sox signing of the much better DIce-K.

Like others have stated, Irabu was suppose to be an ace. The Yankees signed Igawa knowing he would be Wang at best. If he could be another Wang, it would be good pick up.

Irabu had Dice hype.

There was no hype around Igawa as there was around Irabu. Igawa was predicted to be a solid #4 or 5 option pitcher while Irabu was supposed to be an ace. Don't expect too much, but don't expect the worse.

the only element the Yankees could placed Igawa on is waivers. the guy stinks, undeniable and straightforward. He has no fastball and his administration isn't super, and that's no longer a sturdy mixture. He in simple terms would not have what it takes to pitch interior the majors. Igawa has had numerous possibilities now, and he's shown he can no longer pitch. The Yankees could decrease their losses now and unload him.

NO, people with a lot of hype don't usually live up to it. It's people who fly under the radar that usually start picking up speed. Although I don't happen to thnk Igawa will truly be an all-star, or even be as good as Dice-K, I think people need to give him a chance. I bet he'll do better than Irabu did. I also think he'll pull a truckload of wins becuase he pitches for the Yanks, just like Chien-Mien Wang did.

Igawa is a good pitcher but not a GREAT pitcher. Irabu had a good run for a while. Then he went back to Japan to pitch. It is hard to say but I think Igawa will be more consistant. He still isn't a great pitcher.

Quality of competition Igawa faced has changed since Irabu and so has the quality of scouting. Someone learned a lesson..
Yankees were probably better prepared than Boston for the negotiations.

No. Irabu was supposed to be an ace. Igawa is being asked to be a 4th or 5th starter.
