I am the biggest Simpson family. So no one is sadder to agree with you than I. Every week, Homer does something insensitive, Marge gets pissed at Homer, Homer thinks Marge will leave him, Homer makes some grand gesture to win her back, Marge loves Homer again. How many times do we need to keep seeing that? I think the writers have spent all their efforts on this new movie (jumping the shark?) and none on the same hackneyed story lines. We are not alone in our beliefs my friend.

sorry to tell you, this may be one of the best shows(?) ever!!! i think one of the elements that let it endure this long was the fact that it is a cartoon. brady bunch would have lasted had the kids not grown. same for my three sons, family affair, family ties, wonder years, saved by the bell, etc... i think i chose shows from each decade up to now. the simpsons, being 17 years in production, have adhered to change, and done a great job. as the tenure has matured, so has the times, the evolution of tv, everything. i am not a fan of change as i am one of the great xenophobes, but this show has gone through genres, presidencies, wars, various stages of reality game shows, and still survived. props to the simpsons. young or old, you gotta hand it to the staff!!!!

I have had that notion for a couple of seasons now. If this new movie turns out to be a musical, then I feel their reign is about over. The Simpson's have been on as long as I can remember, and fresh ideas are hard to come by.

the show will sustain for a while longer, after the movie hits, then we will know if the simpsons are still a good series, i mean if they pull of with their best at their movie then it be hard to top that to keep it entertaining, if it sucks a lot of fans will be disappointed. but either way its still a classic show of course things always change overtime, or maybe your outlook on what is funny for yourself has changed.but i still like them.

I feel u. The movie will surely be a tell-tale sign of the depth of the shows' future existence. I don't think that The Simpsons products will be too marketable. However, I don't think their going anywhere either. They will have to do things like add pizazz to their trademark wardrobes, more guest appearances, and prob a new character, maybe a neighbor.

I would have to disagree. I think the show is still going strong, the humour has just changed. With most shows absurdity is becoming the rule, and the Simpons I think are starting to follow suit. The recent Xmas episode in which the Grumbly Grue kept appearing. The whole episode had my friends and I in stitches.

It still can since nowadays the show makes fun of issues all over the world. And the world never runs out of issues.

well I agree with you, but the characters have not been allowed to grow. The kids have been the same age for a long time and the gags are getting old. Maybe the kids should go to HS or something.

Perhaps, you have just out grown cartoons. My son use to love it when he was little, unfortunately he use to get in trouble in school because he would remember everything and he acted smart with his teachers. I don't know how it made it as long as it has, but I do watch sometimes, but I have always felt that it was a bad influence for younger school children.
Just my personal opinion.
