The only "up" from Libby is Cheney and Bush. Rove is sideways.

Libby's defense team was foolish trying to argue a scapegoat defense. You can't be a scapegoat unless you are charged with doing something that someone else actually did. The charges were obstruction and perjury. It's nonsensical to say "I didn't lie -- it was someone else sitting in that chair talking through me".

As far as revealing Plame's identity, that's a separate offense. And while Libby might have been the scapegoat for that, he wasn't charged with doing that.

Libby was convicted, so it pretty much stops at him. An attorney's argument doesn't matter if it doesn't work.
