Yes it should thicken it. Mix a couple of teaspoons with a little water until you get a smooth paste, then add it to the liquid you are trying to thicken. Heat the water first - this may help the process along. Just going by my experience of thickening mince, casserole's etc. Good Luck!!

I have used plain old flour and water as glue and flour dough with some oil in and food colour as a form of plasticine,but I haven't heard of the cornflower variety.
