^well I'll admit, that question sounds a little strange, here's some guy over the internet asking people how to make friends, all I need is a little dog named 'Precious' and I'm set*

Anyway, I've lived in a small college town for 2 years and have yet to make any friends (don't think I haven't tried). I've been to churches, bible studies, classes, clubs, parties, coffee shops, sporting events, myspace, facebook, etc.

Granted, I've made tons of "aquaintances," a majority of these people are nice enough, I just get the feeling they're being polite when they see me because mostly our conversations don't "click" or rise above small talk. Believe me, I've tried repeatedly to engage in real conversation with people but to no avail...it's gotten me to the point I'm using words like "avail."

Oh, and I'm a college aged guy that some may stereotype as a "nerd," I prefer to think of myself more as a geek.

Define friendship in your own way as you have already grown to find an answer all by yourself.
Surely you have friends and it is only you who can identify.
If you are shy and introvert, start talking to a tree, a small boy or girl. Friends have no age bar.
Be frank to share your thoughts when you find someone in leisure. Ask 'do you have time to answer any of my question?' People love to answer questions when they free. World has become very fast, keep pace.
Good Luck. Now at least you have a friend in me, keep in touch thro' my mail : subhas_53@yahoo.com. You are welcome.

**** them, no ones perfect friends are trouble any ways
just focus on what makes you happy you don't need no one but your self to make you happy the sooner you learn to be okay with your self the better off you'll be. i read something one time that said your life is like a jar of rocks put all the big ones in (college, life, good job, and ect.) and the little one will fall into place (friend, pleasures ect.) and if you think your a nerd so the **** what embrace it who you are

be yourself and dont try to fit in. people who will be good friends will love you for who you are. ttry joining clubs that attract people with the same interests as you. get a job at a place popular with students so instead or a nerd people will call you the guy who works at the coffeshop and makes a killer caramel latte!!!!!!

hmm from the sound of it, it seems your are going places just to meet friends. if i was you i go to places i would go or have interest and just socialize with people that are in that place.cause going to clubs is great but dont always think you find your best friend forever in there. just be yourself let your "geek" was come out to people...
