Cataclysmica you need to get your facts correct. Here is the list as it should be. Note the changes in the first answer from what you gave. That was really bad advice there buddy...
256 Bits = 1 Byte.<------
1024 Bytes = 1 KB
1024 KB = 1 MB
1024 MB = 1GB
1024 GB = 1 Terabyte.
1024 Terabytes = 1 Petabyte.

1 Megabyte (MB) = 1024 Kilobytes (KB). Yeah, it's not even. It's annoying, but to a computer nerd it makes sense.

1000kb DOES NOT = 1mb... there's an offset of 24 on every instance of... well, everything to do with a hard drive. If you buy a 250gb (gigabyte) hard drive, you are actually buying a 244gb hard drive. Check it out on your computers... check out your maximum capacity... it is not an even number (e.g., 20gb, 60gb, 100gb, etc.)

2^16=1024 sounds like 16 bit binary.

1024KB are in 1MB. This how it is measured by Windows and by computer scientists.
However, some hard drive companies will calculate it as 1000KB per 1MB, because then they can claim that the drives are bigger than they actually are.

Thats easy k=1,000 so there 1,000 kb's in a mb.
