I have to write an 8 page report on a disease for sports related injury. I need some ideas. I would need to be able to research it in actual journals and get odds ratios. I need something that going to be intresting and I can actually talk about without repeating myself, and has been in the health news in like the last 2 years.

This just comes to mind. How about a report on all the incidents of heart attacks and sudden deaths due to enlarged hearts, etc. in young athletes? I don't mean to be morbid, but the statistics are alarming and this might be a topic you would find interesting to research. There should be many newspaper stories to support your argument and good medical resources. Really a tragic occurrence, but very intriguing.

okay, I know that I sound like a grade school gym teacher (nothing Wrong with that), but I really think you should write on the increase of torn ACL's, anterior cruciate ligaments in knee's, in female athletes.
It has been proven that stretching prevents most sports related injuries or prevents them from being very serious. I have has 6 surgeries in the past four years ranging from two shattered elbows and replacements, two torn acl's, and two broken ankles all from separate injuries relating to tight muscles.
Female athletes are proven to have a more tight sense of muscle structure than males and a higher rate of severe critical injury. Male coaches today dont' emphasize stretching and run the female body like a males thus creating more problems than necessary! Good luck and I think this paper would be really interesting but a big tedious.

You mean a disease that can cause sports-related injuries? I suppose there are a lot of diseases that can affect sports figures, just as much as anyone else. I say bone illnesses would be one, arthritis, torn ligaments, knee problems like a torn or damaged miniscus, one leg being shorter than the other, scoliosis, back problems, Lou Gerrig's disease (a neuro-muscular disease in the Muscular Distrophy category), bone cancer, liver problems from taking too much pain medication (maybe), tennis elbow, head and neck injuries in football/soccer/hockey players.

That's about all I can come up with right now. I hope this gets you started with it.
