Abrassive? it's really how you view it. It was nothing like what Michael richards did.

The man was pretty much honest with his feelings and you could tell deep down in his heart he he did not care who he offended because he felt he was right no matter what everyone else thought.

The impression he left me was, yes, he does not like gay people, he would leave them alone as long as they left him alone. Do I think he would plot hurting someone? Nah, but I doubt he would vote for gay marriage.

Well, he said a lot more that "I hate gays."
He also said that if a gay player was on the same team he played on, he would ask that the gay player be traded.
He also admitted to being homophobic, as if it were acceptable. Please keep in mind that Mr. Hardaway has a college education, and one would assume that he understands that a phobia is an irrational fear, based on a psychological disorder....
What if a player loved disco, and everybody else on the team was into rap...... should they demand the the disco lover be banished? (this scenario based on the choice paradigm)
And, Scenario #3. Where was the moral out cry when Wilt proclaimed he had sex with 20,000 women? Since when is inforcement of moral standards up for selective enforcement? And who gets to make the decsicion about which rules are inforced and which aren't? Seems to me that the player in question was keeping all this to himself, and no one was any the wiser and it didn't make a difference.... would it change anything if he had come out while he was an active player? Only in Timmy's homophobic mind; his problem. Don't make the other player pay for Timmy's mental illness.
Or, if a player was, say..... Native American, and everyone else on the team was cowboys; should the player be banned? (this scenario based on race/culture paradigm)
Don't you think we can do better than creating division based on fear?

Let's play the game!!!!!

he said 'i hate gay people'. and went further by saying that he's homo phobic and homosexuality doesnt belong in the US or anywhere.

wrong place and wrong time to say it...but if u've ever seen him as an nba announcer...u'll realize that he's not the most articulate person there and doesnt know how to phrase things in a constructive way.

he's on the nba blacklist for a while.

Abrasive? I'd say "hate-mongering".
Then again I would expect most NBA players to feel the same way as Hardaway, being that jocks are jocks (jerks).

I don't know what he said. It must have been real bad if he was banned from the All Star weekend in Vegas.

yea he basically came out and said "he hated gay people" he should of kept that to himself, just because who he is, celebs get slandered for those kind of actions everyday, that was uncalled for, i feel that gays can do what they want, as long as it doesnt have nothin to do wit me, but i'll neva speak on it on camera at all though, cuz the media will twist that too

Abrasive? They were downright offensive, immature, ignorant and just plain stupid. Even if he thought those things, he should have kept his mouth shut so he wouldn't lose his position with the NBA.

No, I see his point. I wouldnt want to undress with a gaylord. It would be like a man getting changed in the womens room....it would just be awkward//

He said, and i quote, "I hate gay people."

Granted the was a lot more said in the comment, but that was the one sentence that solidified him as an NBA outsider.
