Goldfish don't get "pregnant" per se - the female will begin to look round when she is producing eggs. You will also need a male goldfish present, who will fertilize her eggs when she releases them (sometimes thousands) all over the tank. He will chase her around the tank while this is happening. After about three to four hours the courtship should stop. When the eggs are laid and fertilized they need to be removed from the tank so that the parents don't eat them.

It's unlikely, if you're a beginner like me the same thing happened. Since i bought my fish at walmart they were extremely small and skinny and were probably only months old. When i got them home they settled down quickly and the next day they ate like crazy, a little pinch was gone in 5-10 seconds. They eat so much they can't control themselves which is why the belly forms. Overtime they'll slim out and become extremely healthy and that's most likely exactly what happened with you.

Firstly Goldfish don't get pregant
secondly goldfish do get fat and they grow bigger it depend on the type, i have all different types and 3 in my pond which are what you would call "fat" don't worry if it gets too big take it to the aquarium because it might have bloat or something ( where they take in too much air while eating) which can be serious GOOD LUCK

It is extremely unlikely that your goldfish is pregnant. They are egg layers and usually do not spawn in captivity unless they are in ideal conditions. On the off chance that she is, you will need to cease changing the water in the bowl or water she is in and get a filter for the water and watch for eggs to be layed probably on the side of the glass.

I'm no animal expert, but are you sure that it's pregnancy fat. Maybe your fish is just overweight...

you could always take your fish back to the place that you got it from and ask for their oppinion. either that or you could take it to the vet! I do like the idea of a fish pregnancy test...might be a bit hard to get the first pee in the morning though! LOL

Either check to see if her periods have stopped or by a standard goldfish pregnancy kit.
