I think next season will be the year he gets that job. For now, he'll just dominate the 8th inning like he did last season while Todd Jones racks up the saves.

Not this season but, next is a definite. But, you will see Joel Zumaya closing out some more games than he did last season. Although there is always that chance you will see Todd Jones fail and Zumaya will come in.
Here is some information on Joel Zumaya:
"Zumaya overwhelmed opponents as a rookie with his triple-digit fastball. His next step-before he becomes a closer- will be more of a pitcher, mixing in his curveball more and refining his mechanics. As long as Zumaya throws around 100 mph, he'll be one of the best strikeout options in baseball." -SportingNews on Joel Zumaya

because of the fact the way all and sundry pitched final 365 days, no longer something is to settle for, each little thing must be earned. on a similar time as Zumaya must be the closer of the destiny, can he carry that interest now? regrettably i'm no longer able to video reveal Tigers spring training video games, yet from what i've got study, he has had stable administration yet continues to be erratic. Rodney has journey as a closer so I say initiate the season with him at that place and function Zumaya set him up interior the seventh/8th inning. If Rodney flames out, then placed Z in on the closer place. As for Porcello, it particularly is encouraging to hearken to that he's doing super in spring training. whether, i'm hesitant to declare him the subsequent Verlander, thinking how some distance V regressed final 365 days. All i pick is for the pitching team to throw strikes and not walk batters. we've the protection to get adult males out and we rattling particular have a suitable tier offense too.

well, jonesy has one year left on his contract and makes too much money not to close. he is a rollercoaster but he usually gets the job done. zumaya doesn't have the arsenal to be a starting pitcher, but his 103 mph fastball is enough for him to dominate innings 8 and 9 after this year.
rodney and ledezma will be great long relievers, even though rodney has shown flashes of brilliance in the closer role. the job will be zumaya's when jones is gone.

I think so. He showed last year he can handle the pressure, and Todd Jones is at the tail end of his career. Besides, nothing I like better then seeing a guy come out of the pen in the ninth with the game on the line, throwing bullets that hit triple digits on the radar gun.

I hope so, he is just dominating - I passed on drafting a second closer in fantasy BB and took Zumaya instead betting that it would be this year. I hope that works out.

I think he would make a great closer for the Tigers.
