Friend in outer circle drove 2 hours to take me to hospital. I called her the next day and she said you don't need to come over and give me anything. I said I know. Then I never went over. Now I have a card for her but do I pay her for gas or would that offend her since she said she didn't want anything?
thanks.

I don"t think you should send her money. I'm sure she did it from her good heart and yes she may be offended if you insist in paying her. You can still send her a beautiful card written by you expressing your gratitude for what she did for you. Write it with your own words rather than sent a card you would buy in a store. She will appreciate the thought and the gesture.

Have a wonderful week-end.

That was very nice of her and remember that when someone else asks you to help if you feel obligated ask the woman out to lunch
in the end value this friend it is wonderful to have people care about you
care about them
God Bless you and I hope you are doing okay and feeling well

I would take the card over and maybe something small, like a bouquet of flowers to say thank you.

How about you dont mention the money in the card, you simply thank her very much, and say that if she was ever in the same situation you would do the same for her :-) and word it so it doesnt sound cheasy or an empty promise.

maybe you should just reasure her that you will be there for HER if she never needed help from you, OR you could just buy her a gift card for gas, or for something else (say... starbucks gift card), that way its more like a gift, rather than payment and makes it more personal.

Take her out for a lunch or dinner , and thank her that way - or buy her something that you know she'll like - I would do something like that to thank her for SURE!
