I don't think so becuase my cousin did and her's fried, but I think it was because she left it on her carpeted floor, I highly reccomend just buying a memory card if it's about saving a game they are cheap on eBay.com and Half.com

I have had a ps2 almost since launch. I never turn mine off. When I'm not playing ( wich is alot ), it is always on standby. Never had a problem.

It is okay but it is not recommended because your hardware can fry. Especially since Sony has the least reliable hardware of the 3 companies.

yes it wont hurt it but i always flip the switch off in the back, mainly because i have a toddler i dont want to opening the tray and breaking it off, he's like bam bam

i dont turn mine off but i keep it on a metal rack so it doesnt over heat. you should unplug it once in a whle though to give it a rest though.
