Really? Chuck Palahnuik? I found his stuff to be VERY strange. Especially "Haunted" that book confused me and gave me the creeps.
I prefer Jeffery Deaver. His Lincoln Rhymes series rocks.
Tess Gerritsen gets a big thumbs up too.

In my opinion John Grisham is the best author. His books are well researched and clear to understand. Some of his best books are : The Firm, The Last Jurror and The King Of Torts.

Try Matthew Reilly(in my humble opinion, the greatest thriller writer on the planet today), also James Rollins, Clive Cussler, Ted Bell, Jack DuBrul and Bob Morris just to get you started on more interesting reading based on supposed events or happenings that will make your days and nights even more thought-provoking.

Just for good entertainment, I love reading the Stephanie Plum bounty hunter stories by Janet Evanovich. There's always something she writes that makes me laugh out loud. She's fun to read.

I always loved Charles Bukowski. He is a grumpy, honest, drunken poet who ignores all grammar rules. " Notes of a Dirty Old Man" is pretty cool. "Last Night of the Earth Poems" is fun too.
