is it good i have to read it for history

I think it is a pretty good book, probably more for jr. high students, though. It's set in the 1920's or 30's if I remember correctly and is about racial tensions in a small country town. If you like that book, the author later wrote a prequel called "The Land" that I like better.

It is a good family story. It shows, through the lives of the Logan family, that slavery didn't really end with the Civil War. I think people who were born after the Civil Rights Movement (myself included) forget that. Well written, good historical information (easy to write reports about), and not too long.

If you have to read it for school, it doesn't really matter if it is good or not, does it?
