I pretty much agree with democrats 100% economically speaking, but am against abortion, gay marriage, and stem cell research. But I am NOT a republican, woud never classify myself as such. Is anyone else like me?

Perhaps you ought to reconsider some of your views particularly the stem cell research and consider them from a humanitarian perspective rather than a religious one. To begin with, practically speaking, other nations are off to a rapid start on stem cells which leaves us behind. Science is amoral and as such it will advance whether you like it or not.
So others will be inventing things to cure ills and we will be sitting on our high Christian horse like the priests that imprisoned Galileo.

With the exception of your opposition to stem cell research and no exception antiabortion stance, you sound like me. I'm a one time Democrat at all cost voter. Now I'm an independent and make them earn it, voter. Don't be too quick to commit to any party, would be my advice to everyone. Vote for the candidate. Not the party. Then don't hesitate to vote for the other guy if your candidate doesn't do your bidding.

I am more conservative, in certain cases, when it comes to certain issues like the above, plus, also when it comes to finance and business; but I can be more liberal with other issues like inter-racial couples, pollution and the environment, and certain laws defined as crime that should not really be called crimes because the definition of crime punishes people not harming anyone else versus someone who actually does something to someone else causing harm to another person in some way. With abortion, that's difficult sometimes because certain women get raped (would you want to be forced to have the baby of someone who raped you?). I will not touch on gay marriage but I do not believe in it either. With stem cell research, I do not feel comfortable when they use cells from human fetises but may be more accepting when it does not involve other humans.

You are one of many who have come to realize that hot-button issues do not make you one party or the other--good for you.
You wanna know what you are? Look in your checkbook and unless you see there are 6 zero's behind the comma--your all democrat sweetie!! Republicans are the elite, the top 5 percent and the politicians who support them based on the "sole" benefactors of conservative politics.

You are a thinking person who makes up his own mind about issues and doesn't follow the straight party line of either party. I applaud you. As for voting, I think you should pick the individual candidate that best represents your interests, regardless of the party they're in.

You are saying that you are a social conservative & an economic liberal? I think there are more people like you in the Republican party than there are among the Democrats.
