Like physically, he/she is there, but they don't act like a mom or a dad to you. They don't seem to care about you and they dont really know you. I hope you understand what I'm talking about. Thanks. :) peace.

Yes. Both my parents used drugs at one point or another and I'm sure I was abandoned then.

My parents are both gone, but my Dad wasn't real connected to us at all. In fact, I once asked him if he was proud after I had made some big accomplishments at work and all he could say was "I didn't say I wasn't proud of you."

but it's actually quite painful to even imagine...........

but let me tell you one thing if any such thing ever happening to you then I'm truly sorry.....

but you see life isn't always fair and sometimes you just need to learn to be there for yourself even when nobody cares...you know there're orphan children out there who don't even know who their parents are, have never seen them or felt their presence and often I wonder how painful it is. even I lost my dad when I was somewhat young and I was very attached to him. so I think even if parents act a bit otherwise and sometimes don't seem to care though I believe this is incredibly wrong but still having parents around is quite comforting indeed. In difficult situation we need to know that there're people who might be in more painful situations. so I would suggest try talking to them and let them know how exactly you feel -probably they're not aware of your feelings yet so just let them know and see what happens !! Please do take comfort & take care..!!
