I'm not huge but i'm not like super super small. so i guess i'm small/medium. What type of bathing suit should i get. I was thinking about getting a pair of like billabong boardshorts and a rashguard or something for the top. what do you think, do you have any suggestions? thanks in advance!

I personally think that boyshorts (or the billabong shorts that you suggested) and a bikini-top (not the string-bikini top, just a regular-strap bikini top) would look really great on your body type.
To me, two-piece, string bikini outfits are meant for people who want to show off *every single piece of their body.* You sound like the more sensible type who wants to look good and feel great. Bathing suit shorts almost always flatter any kind of body shape and they won't make you feel self-conscious.

Well, it depends on what you feel comfortable wearing. Because of my genetics I have a small amount of fat around my belly, so I don't feel comfortable in the low rise two piece swimsuits. But, I found a specialty shop with great two piece suits with a slightly higher rise. If you're not comfortable in that type of two piece, some stores also carry two piece swimsuit tops which will cover your belly. If you feel comfortable in wearing board shorts, and you look good in them, then of course you should wear them.

Your body seems well-suited to whatever you want to wear! I think boardshorts and a bikini top would be cute, or a tube top.

Just go to the store and try different styles on to see what you like the best and feel the most comfortable in.

I, personally, like bikinis. If you have larger thinghs, get the little shorts bikinis or if you have a larger stomach, they have the tankinis. Those are bikinis, but tank tops
